Our Philosophy

The Reggio Emilia approach was founded in the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy, shortly following World War II. Troubled by the turmoil and strife in the world at the time, educator Loris Malaguzzi picked up the pieces of his bomb-shattered town. He knew he never wanted future generations to experience the disarray his community was facing and saw hope in the youngest of children. This hope inspired him to invest in early learners, to value them, and to give them the autonomy to be active community members, even from a young age.
